How I got started....

15 years ago I bought 20 sheets of stained glass at a fire sale. I wanted an activity for my husband’s birthday party, so I watched how-to-mosaic videos on YouTube and bought glass nippers. We made a whimsical chicken mosaic, which has travelled the world with our family: from Seattle to Zambia to South Africa.

Until recently I haven’t been able to work legally in Africa, so I’ve spent thousands of hours developing my craft. My technique involves a bit of madness wrapped in “why not?” and dipped in “let’s see how this goes...” Some pieces work, some need to be ripped out and fixed, and some go straight to the dumpster. I never judge a piece until it has been grouted.
